Southern Nevada AAU Taekwondo Mini-Tourney June 5, 2004 Las Vegas, Nevada
|
Master Tapia's tiny team put Vegas on Notice! World Academy is a name to be reckoned with.
|
The Tourney took place on a broiling hot July afternoon at the Lone Mountain Taekwondo
School located on North Decatur.
The World Academy team was composed of only three players;
10 year old 2nd Dan
|
Cristina Gerodimos
|
Jr Black Belt Division
|
9 year old Green Belt
|
Stuart Blue
|
Intermediate Division
|
10 year old Yellow Belt
|
Briana Blue
|
Novice Division
|
|
In Forms Competition
Christina Gerodimos and Stuart Blue
both took 1st Place in their Divisions.
In her first outing new Yellow Belt Briana Blue won
2nd Place in the Novice Division.
In Olympic Sparring
Christina Gerodimos trounced the
female competition to win 1st Place in
her division.
Stuart Blue, who chose to fight
in the Advanced Division due to
lack of competitors of his rank,
surprised onlookers by defeating a
Red Belt to win 1st Place.
Briana Blue won 2nd Place in
the Novice Division.
The Real Fireworks
came in the Challenge Matches that took
place after regular play.
The fun began when coach Bob offered to
"put my Green Belt up against one of your
Black Belts".
In the end, two World Academy team
members, Christina Gerodimos and Stuart
Blue faced off in a round-robin series of
matches against a team of four 10-13 year
old boys from Clark County TKD, one 1st
Dan and three Junior Black Belts.
The boys from Clark County TKD were
forced to suffer the humiliation of losing 3 of
4 matches to "that little girl". Their
chagrin was much compounded, however,
when the "lowly Green Belt" from Master
George Tapia's World Academy of
Taekwondo and Hapkido shocked everyone
but Coach Bob by also
defeating three of Clark County's four black
belts.
Way To Go Team!
